In Israel, one year after the October 7 massacres, the religious ultranationalist right is gaining ground. Its political representatives have been in government since 2022, and their discourse permeates society and the media. Yekutiel Epstein is a 17-year-old Israeli. He subscribes to the school of thought of Rabbi Meir Kahane, a radical Israeli-American whose Kach party was banned in Israel in the 1990s for its racism. For a long time, his ideas were a marginal phenomenon, but today, more than 30 years after his death, they are regaining importance. On the ground, on social media, and even in the Israeli parliament, Yekutiel Epstein and his far-right allies are pushing to extend Israeli sovereignty over all occupied territories and expel the Palestinians from them. These extreme right-wingers dream of a Greater Israel that extends far beyond the borders of the current state. Israeli society is still deeply hurt and deeply divided after the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7.
