The C in the abbreviation of the graphics card standard CGA for IBM PCs stands for "color" because... the standard introduced in 1983 was the first to support color at all. We didn't have anything back then. There wasn't much color to be seen back then, but EGA came along in 1985, which made everything a bit prettier and more colorful. (VGA came along in the 90s, but that's another story and will be told in another podcast.)
