Is the Second Coming as close as some predict? The timing of Jesus’ Second Coming is described as being similar to a woman in labor. Just as birth follows a very precise set of events, and a woman receives many warnings that her baby is on the way, so it is with the Lord’s return. We are given very specific signs to watch for that will indicate Christ’s return. This website details these specific signs. There has never been a time in history when the Lord’s return has been so close. It is undeniable that we are seeing prophecies being fulfilled at an astounding rate. It is important to live as if we will never have another chance to make our hearts right with God. We need to act as if we will never have another opportunity to witness to our loved ones. And we need to hold the things of this world—money, homes, ambitions—with an open hand, ready to cast them all aside at the wave of our Lord. But we also need to realize that we will never fully understand God’s timing or His perfect plan. And the Bible says that “with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8). So we cannot fit God into our limited understanding. Because of this, we continue to go to work, we continue to get an education; in fact, we continue to patiently wait for His return. Jesus said, “But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (Matthew 24:36). What is important about the timing of the rapture is not wanting to know when it will come so we can prepare, but to be ready at every moment. “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour” (Matthew 25:13).
