Dreaming is actually civilization, life. Dreaming, which is unique to humans, is an indispensable subject for the sustainability of life. But do we have the right dreams? If everything is a dream, is human life also a dream? Being able to dream, which is a part of life, becomes realistic, comes to life and directs the future in societies based on love for humanity. He was born in Paris in 1926. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture in 1949. In 1962-63, he was a visiting professor at the Department of Islamic Art at the University of Michigan in the USA. In 1965, he became a professor with his book “Sources and Problems of Anatolian Turkish Architecture”. After 1967, Kuban taught Islamic Art and Architecture at the universities of Michigan and Minnesota, and in 1980-81, he taught Islamic Architecture History at MIT as a visiting Aga Han professor. He was a member of the Supreme Board of Real Estate Antiquities and Monuments between 1968-83. In 1975, he founded and chaired the Institute of Architectural History and Restoration. He served as the chair of the Department of Architectural History and Restoration at ITU and as the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. Kuban, who retired in 1993, received the Ministry of Culture, Chamber of Architects and TUBITAK Service Awards. In 1994, he was elected a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Institute of Architects. Kuban received the Aydın Doğan Award for his book “Sinan'ın Sanatı ve Selimiye”.
