Information from Wikipedia (i.e., myth): Ustym Yakymovych Karmelyuk (March 10, 1787 - October 22, 1835) - noble robber, Ukrainian national hero, leader of the insurgent movement in Podillia in 1813–1835 against the national and social oppression of Ukrainian serfs by the lords. Karmelyuk left behind the glory of a true people's avenger, who fearlessly defended the disadvantaged and wronged. Because of his heroic glory, Karmelyuk is often compared to other famous robbers and is called the "Ukrainian Robin Hood" and "the last haidamak."
