Daughter of Maria née Zimny and Tomasz Wachowski. Her father was a Greater Poland insurgent, severely wounded in the fighting at Wolsztyn. As a soldier of the 26th Greater Poland Uhlan Regiment, he later took part in the Polish-Bolshevik War. Awarded the Cross of Valour of the Second Polish Republic. Until the outbreak of World War II, he was an activist of the Greater Poland Insurgents Association and the Board of the War Disabled Persons Association in Leszno. He worked as a meat inspector in the Municipal Slaughterhouse. Irena Sikorska - was a social activist in the Association of Blind Soldiers of the Republic of Poland (ZOŻ RP). Awarded the Golden Badge of Honour of a Meritorious Activist and the Medal of the 80th Anniversary of ZOŻ RP. For her professional achievements, she was honoured with, among others, the Badge of Meritorious Cultural Activist and the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1989).
