In the sixth episode of the program #Witness_to_the_Era with former Iraqi intelligence chief #Fadel_Al-Azzawi, #Ahmed_Mansour sheds light on the case of the execution of former intelligence chief #Fadel_Al-Barrak and the liquidation of Iraqi Health Minister #Riyadh_Ibrahim. Al-Azzawi explained that he worked as deputy to intelligence chief Fadel Al-Barrak for four years before assuming the position himself, succeeding Al-Barrak. After him, #Sabaawi_Al-Tikriti, the half-brother of #Saddam_Hussein, took over. He accused Al-Barrak of high treason and working for #Israel, an accusation that led to his execution in 1992 and his burial at night in the Tikrit cemetery, despite his closeness to Saddam to the point of asking to marry his wife's sister #Sajida. He also revealed that #Barzan_Al-Tikriti later married Fadel Al-Barrak's wife after his execution. Al-Azzawi pointed out that the late Iraqi president Saddam Hussein was loyal and sincere in his support for the #Palestinian_cause. He also explained the role of the #Iraqi_Intelligence Service in supporting the #Palestine_Liberation_Organization with weapons and money, explaining that he personally received #Yasser_Arafat at his farm during his visit to #Iraq. Al-Azzawi spoke about Saddam Hussein's liquidation of former Minister of Health Riyad Ibrahim in 1982, due to the latter's request for Saddam to step down in exchange for stopping the #Iraq_Iran_War. He also discussed American support for the Iraqi Intelligence Service led by former President #Ronald_Reagan, and Saddam's refusal to betray the Soviets in favor of the #United_States, which offered to supply Iraq with weapons in exchange for the secrets of the Russian #T72 tank.
