The play satirizes greed and lust for power. When a veterinarian comes to town, the citizens there despise and ignore him. However, when he learns that he has inherited a lot of money, everyone thinks that he is a perfect business partner and an ideal son-in-law. After a series of comical stunts, it is the school principal Maslavschi and his feisty wife who succeed in marrying the doctor to their daughter. Their effort, however, is in vain, because in fact the doctor had not inherited anything...
