Concept of ionic product or ionic balance of water. We are surrounded by acidic and basic substances in our daily lives. Orange, lemon and pineapple are acidic (have a pH below 7.00) and have a sour taste; green banana and cashew nuts are mouth-watering because they have basic substances (have a pH above 7.00). To calculate the pH of solutions, we need to understand some concepts first. In this chemical equilibrium video lesson, we will study the concept of ionic balance of water resulting from the process of autoionization of water, also known as autoprotolysis of water.
