Thursday, December 5, 2024 President Claudia Sheinbaum. 00:00 Start of broadcast 14:20 Press conference begins 14:44 Report on the Interoceanic Train of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec 49:45 Question and answer session 1:54:41 Women in history We announce important investment in six Mexican ports, which is added to the work on the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Through the Ministry of the Navy, the federal government is investing more than 30 billion pesos to strengthen the ports of Ensenada, Manzanillo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Acapulco, Progreso, and Veracruz. At the same time, work continues on the ports of Salina Cruz, Coatzacoalcos, Puerto Chiapas, and Dos Bocas, which correspond to the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. This corridor connects the Pacific and Atlantic oceans; it has three train lines: Line Z, from Coatzacoalcos to Veracruz, with cargo and passenger service. Line FA, from Coatzacoalcos to Palenque, offers passenger and cargo transportation; it connects with the Mayan Train and will have access to the Dos Bocas refinery. Line K, in the process of rehabilitation to link Oaxaca with Chiapas and connect with Guatemala. We are moving forward in the formation of the 12 Wellbeing Poles for the benefit of Mexicans. It is not only about industrial development; the purpose is for investments to bring wellbeing to the population: good salaries, housing, education, health, mobility and all rights. We informed local authorities that the kickbacks will not return to the budget; instead, we will add resources for the benefit of projects for the wellbeing of all. We had a good meeting with mothers and fathers of the Ayotzinapa case; we are working on a new vision of the investigation to reach the truth and justice. We are focusing on locating new search sites; We will always have open access to the information that is necessary and we are not going to protect anyone. The objective is to find the young people. Next week we will have a meeting of the National Security Council to continue strengthening the joint strategy. The Ministry of the Interior will convene the governors of Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas to organize the reception of our migrant countrymen, in case of a mass deportation. We hope that does not happen, but we are prepared. We continue our visits to the entities of the Republic; in addition to public events to inform the people, we meet with the governors and our cabinets to define strategic projects, which we will later announce as part of the National Development Plan. In the section “Women in history,” we remember the sisters Patria, Minerva and María Teresa Mirabal, symbols of the fight for freedom and justice in the Dominican Republic. In their honor, the UN instituted November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
