A re-recording of Dmitry Perevozov's introductory lecture to the course on political economy. The lecture covers the following: 1. The place of political economy in the system of sciences. 2. Marx's predictions about the growth of inequality and capital, the impoverishment of the proletariat. 3. Did Marx know mathematics? 4. The "miracles" of mathematics. 5. Production and consumption. Although the author tried to simplify the subject, the lecture is not popular science and therefore requires some preparation. It is desirable that the audience knows at least a superficial level the basics of school algebra and is familiar with the basics of philosophy. It would also be a good idea to read Marx's Introduction to the Critique of Political Economy (Marx, K. and Engels, F. (1958). Works. 2nd edition. Vol. 12.
