Specifically, I had chosen to decode or translate the first and only extant long Thracian written text with 61 consecutive Greek capital letters of the Ionic type, found engraved on the plate of a gold ring. The ring was worn in his grave by the skeleton of a prominent Thracian man of the 5th century BC. Thus, without realizing it, a research Odyssey began for me that lasted 24 whole years; from 1990 until December 30 of the year 2013 , day of the week Monday – an unforgettable milestone! For the Balkan Physics Congress I hypothesized that the inscribed ring tablet presented a musical score (score) of some Thracian hymn to a deity or hero, perhaps the "fame" of the official to whom the skeleton belonged in the tomb. I recorded this score in modern musical notation using the Tables of the ancient Greek philosopher and musician Alypios (4th century BC). With this musical version of the epigram of the ring, performed on cello by the professor of the Contemporary Conservatory of Thessaloniki, Mr. Georgios Manolas, in a world premiere on Saturday evening, September 28, 1991, the Balkan Conference closed in the Ceremony Hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I continued my research drawn by the wise linguists, historians and archaeologists of the various states. I formulated the opinion that the inscription is a specific text written in an amalgam of Greek dialects with barbarisms, whose most elementary cells, the syllables of the words, contain traits and qualities of a musical nature. With the help of the Alypius Tables, I resurrected the musicality that existed and lived lethargically inside the epigram for so many centuries, treating it simultaneously as a "libretto" and as a "score" of an ancient musical and technical work, which was performed and sung by my students. -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- AUTHOR'S BIOGRAPHY Biography of Professor Charalambos X.
