About :

Before her career as a singer, Ines Paulke trained as a nurse. She then studied classical singing at the Gera District Music School and received a sponsorship contract with the Committee for Entertainment Arts in 1983. She initially sang in amateur bands such as the group Motiv, and won several talent competitions. Even at that time, her song Mona Lisa from Riesa was included in the radio program in the GDR. In 1984, Rainer Oleak brought her into the band Datzu, where Paulke sang until 1986 and finally left the band after a dispute. She then worked with pop producer Arnold Fritzsch, who had previously been a member of the band Kreis. He composed songs for Paulke such as Hauch mir wieder Leben ein and The Colour of My Tears, for which Paulke wrote the lyrics herself. She was one of the few artists in the GDR to record songs in English. At the end of the 1980s, she also performed under the name Inez Paulke. She received awards at workers' festivals. She was voted “Pop Singer of the Year” three times in the GDR. The fall of the Berlin Wall ended her career as a pop singer. Paulke now performed with Anke Schenker and Angelika Weiz as the Swing Sisters, founded the gospel project United Voices and was a revue dancer in Berlin's Friedrichstadtpalast. In 2003, the versatile artist wrote and sang the song for Leipzig's Olympic bid together with the American Brady Swenson. In addition to her career as a singer, she had engagements in cabaret and as an actress. From 2005, Paulke played Mrs. Scheuche, the Lichterfee and the Waldwuffel in Reinhard Lakomy's children's program Geschichtenlieder im Traumzauberbaum. She left the project in December 2009 due to health problems. After a long-term partnership with the pianist Peter Schenderlein from the group Rumpelstil broke up, she moved to Allgäu in 2007 to be with a new partner. In 2009, this relationship also ended and Paulke subsequently suffered from depression. In the night of February 16-17, 2010, Ines Paulke took her own life in Thannhausen at the age of 51.
