How did it happen that, although Israel bombed Lebanon, the regime in Syria fell shortly after? I traveled to the besieged country during the most tense period, where I saw the war against Hezbollah up close. At night, the sky flashed with the light of explosions, and during the day I searched for the reasons for the attacks in razed neighborhoods. I filmed in ghost towns, where one had to fear not only the bombings, but also residents ready to lynch. Traveling from Beirut to the Israeli border region, a bizarre country unfolded before me, where internal conflicts, the shadow of the Israeli war, and the influence of Hezbollah reinforce each other. Why do masses of Lebanese support Israel? Why don't all Hezbollah members have weapons? How did Hezbollah take all of Lebanon hostage? The hvg reportage film not only presents Lebanon at war, but also how the country's instability has become the bedrock of another country's revolution. Our recordings were made in October 2024.
