In Europe, the new generation of Toyota Camry was introduced quite modestly in the Czech Republic. The reason for this is that it is sold in only a few countries on our continent, one of which is Lithuania. And if earlier the Japanese justified themselves that perhaps the only remaining representative of this segment and competitor in Europe, the Volkswagen Passat, was available not only as a sedan, but also had a popular station wagon body, now... the Passat is only available as a station wagon, and the Camry ” as before, offered in a sedan body. Of course, as an alternative, you can still consider the Volkswagen Arteon, as well as the Passat co-platform Škoda Superb, which is available as a sedan or station wagon. But back to the Camry. Looking at it, you want to say that this is more of an update than a new model of the ninth generation (XV80) - obviously, with the sedan segment practically disappearing in Europe (because everyone needs small, bigger or large SUVs now), investing in a radical update of the model would be irrational . Also, in our market (as well as in North America) it is only offered with a hybrid drivetrain. Inside, the most noticeable thing is the new large 12.3-inch multimedia screen. So complain there are fewer reasons, although it would have been nice if the screen was tilted towards the driver, because on a sunny day it also shows the reflection of the passenger. that the digital instrument panel still has security systems that can be activated or deactivated by buttons on the steering wheel, which, like other Toyota models, marked with the not very meaningful abbreviations RCTA, PKSB, BSM, I can attribute to the lack of usability that requires getting used to you will also need to get used to the operation of the hybrid system, if you have not driven one yet - it accelerates quickly, but in a large sedan, the feeling that everything is happening is a lot And yet, with a large 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and two electric motors, even 230 hp (was 218 hp) is transmitted to the front wheels - although the increase in power is not very large, the acceleration to 100 km/h has been reduced from 8 .3 seconds to 7.2 seconds, so the dynamics of the sedan are excellent, and the fuel consumption is still surprisingly low. On the highway, they were around 6 L, at the end of the test the average fuel consumption was only 5.3 L/100 km - a great result for a car almost five meters in size and unattainable (as far as petrol versions are concerned) for competitors from the Czech Republic and Germany, which have in their arsenal the usual domestic combustion engines or mains-charged versions. As for the prices, the Camry costs from 38,600 (Sixt Leasing's car rental price is from 588 euros) to 46,500 euros - considering the traditionally good equipment of the manufacturer, when there is no need to order additional equipment (the only premium is for the desired color ), and seeing how much small and compact SUVs cost now, it's safe to say that you're getting a lot of car for a good price.
