There are currently around 500,000 Israeli settlers living in the West Bank. Some of them are radical, want to expand their land and build more illegal settlements... Meir Simcha is one of them. The 23-year-old is part of the radical "Hilltop Youth" movement, which does not shy away from destruction or murder against Palestinians in the West Bank. We at CRISIS were able to meet him in one of the most radical Jewish settlements and find out how his faith drives him to his actions. In the so-called Six-Day War in 1967, Israel gained control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, among other places. Today, the West Bank is divided into different areas under the control of Israel and the Palestinian Authority. According to the UN, the settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law. Israel itself distinguishes between legal settlements and illegal outposts.
