Grüezi to a new video. From September 10th to September 18th, 2016, IGE Erlebnisreisen organized a tour around the Eastern Alps. The plan was to see up to 17 steam locomotives in operation. From Hersbruck, the train with the 01 519 reached the border at Singen (Hohentwiel). There, the 141R1244 from the Swiss Mikado Association took over the train and brought it to Zurich HB, which was the first destination. The next day, the Pacific 01 202 left Zurich HB and went over the Gotthard and Ceneri to Chiasso, the next destination of the day. In addition to this train, a train with an Ae 4/7 from Olten went to Bodio, from where passengers could change to the Gottardino and experience the new Gotthard Base Tunnel. A special train from the Verbano Express Association with another Ae4/7 came from Luino to Erstfeld. This then finally took the IGE train to Chiasso. On the way, however, the Ae4/7 suffered a defect and could no longer continue. Because of the ETCS nonsense, a green Re 6/6 was used in front of the train on these sections. The third day then brought Italian steam locomotives in front of the train. We accompanied the train to Lecco, but that was the end of it for us. Unfortunately, the IGE chartered 2 buses in northern Italy and came to exactly two photo points where we were. So I apologize in advance for the interruption etc. They were three great days with lots of sunshine. Steam can be great like that. There will be a second video with the side shots. I hope you enjoy watching it.
