We know that CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS are very expensive, but did you know that one of the items that most scares people about a construction project is LABOR, whether it's a bricklayer, builder or contractor? Well, the RISING PRICE OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS scares people, but the factor that scares people the most is labor. That's why I'm not going to show you CONSTRUCTION TIPS, but 7 TIPS FOR HIRING LABOR without regretting it when building your home. It is very common for people to worry about HOW MUCH LABOR COST in a construction budget, but it is not only the LABOR PRICE that we should worry about, follow these 7 items that I have listed for you and your hiring will certainly improve: ITEM 1 – HIRING LABOR BY REFERRAL – It is common for people to hire based on the recommendation of a relative or friend, but your criteria for evaluating whether a labor force is good or not may be different from the person who recommended you. Look for references, visit projects that this company or professional has already done, talk to past clients and never hire just the first person you get a quote from. Get a LABOR QUOTE from at least 3 professionals, whether they are bricklayers, architects, engineers, builders, plasterers, painters, carpenters, etc. ITEM 2 – ONLY WORRY ABOUT THE COST OF LABOR – Having a cheap workforce is great and everyone’s dream, but what we have to do is balance our choice when hiring. We do have the COST OF LABOR, but we must also evaluate the speed and quality of the service. A good workforce is one that can balance these 3 things, this is what we call cost-benefit and not have the famous cheap that ends up being expensive. Do not skimp on labor because there is no point in an expensive porcelain floor, or a FITTED KITCHEN with quartz countertop if the labor is not good; ITEM 3 – HIRING WORKFORCE WITHOUT HAVING PROJECTS – Projects are VERY IMPORTANT when hiring labor, because it is by studying the project that the company or professional will be able to know how to charge for the labor, will understand the complexity of the work, the level of finishing, and even the type of flooring that will influence the price of the service, whether it is a built-in skirting board, porcelain or vinyl flooring, burnt cement, etc. Without the projects, they may ask you for additives; ITEM 4 – NOT KNOWING WHO YOU ARE GOING TO HIRE – You can hire a bricklayer, a contractor or a builder. The bricklayer is a self-employed professional who will have a lower price, but if something happens to him on the job, it becomes your responsibility. The contractor is usually a group of multidisciplinary professionals, they sell a service per contract. A builder is similar to a contractor, except that he has an architect or engineer at the head of the company, the downside is that they are more expensive; ITEM 5 – NOT HAVING A CONSTRUCTION MANAGER – Many people think that running a construction project means hiring a workforce and only buying what they ask for, but that’s not quite the case. Construction involves logistics, knowledge of the construction sequence, the right time to remove debris, managing the entry and exit of materials and equipment, managing teams and people. This is the hardest part, and so on. Having a good construction manager is essential, whether it’s an architect, engineer or construction foreman; ITEM 6 – HIRING GENERAL LABOR – Be careful with professionals who can do it all. The more specialized a professional is in a field, the better they will serve you. Bricklayers are the ones who do masonry, plastering, subflooring, slabs, etc., tilers are the ones who glue coverings, electricians are the ones who do the electrical work, and so on; ITEM 7 – BE CAREFUL WITH THE PAYMENT METHOD – Basically, you can pay for labor as a daily rate, by contract or by measurement. The daily rate, as the name suggests, is paid per day. The contract is a fixed amount that the labor force must deliver to you on time what was agreed upon. Payment by measurement, on the other hand, has a fixed amount but is paid monthly according to what was done in that period. I hope this video helps you hire QUALIFIED LABOR FOR YOUR PROJECT.
