“Idiot test” MPU for Sebastian! Anyone caught drunk on a bike or in a car can lose their driver’s license and must take the MPU, better known as the “idiot test”. Sebastian tries it out for himself: will he make it through the MPU? How does MPU preparation work, what questions are asked at the MPU and what should you answer? What most people know as the “idiot test” is actually called the MPU and stands for the medical-psychological examination. If the driver’s license office has doubts about whether someone is suitable to drive a car, they can request the MPU, i.e. the “idiot test”. For example, if someone is caught by the police on a bike with a few too many beers. The MPU is intended to determine whether someone has the psychological and physical prerequisites to get behind the wheel. Anyone caught on a bike with 1.6 per mille or more can lose their driver’s license and may have to take the MPU. Sebastian's driving license was taken away from him in this fictitious PULS report because he was cycling with a blood alcohol level of over 1.6 per mille. You can see how dangerous alcohol is in traffic in the PULS report "Self-experiment: Drunk cycling - how dangerous is it really?". Now Sebastian has to take the "idiot test" MPU. How difficult is the MPU really? To do this, he first attends the MPU consultation and goes through intensive MPU preparation. In order to pass the MPU test, Sebastian prepares for the MPU reaction test and the MPU interview with a psychologist and reflects on his behavior. In part 1 of our PULS report on the topic of “Drunk in traffic” we accompanied Sebastian as he rode a bike while drunk and lost his driver’s license: • Self-experiment: Riding a bike while drunk... In part 2 of our PULS report on the topic of “Drunk in traffic” Sebastian tries to pass the MPU (better known as the “idiot test”) and goes through the usual MPU preparation. What do you think of the MPU preparation? Do you know anyone who has already had to do the MPU or have you already done an MPU yourself?
