Cycling in sub-zero temperatures? Not exactly comfortable, but a great adventure! In this video we go on an icy bike ride in winter, from Erfurt to Eisenach, and take you along on this wonderful route through Thuringia! With a route of 82 km and a total of 690 meters of altitude, we were out in the fresh, cold air all day (with a break). We start by bike at the main train station in the state capital Erfurt. We cycle through the old town, past the Krämerbrücke. We leave Erfurt through parks and head north on the Gera cycle path. We cycle along the Gera on the natural river cycle path to Gebesee, where we change to the Unstrut cycle path. We cycle along the Unstrut to the spa town of Bad Langensalza, with its pretty half-timbered houses, and take a break. We continue into the Hainich National Park, a wonderful area of ​​pure nature where cycling is wonderful! At dusk the lights of the Wartburg appear in front of us; we have arrived in Eisenach. From there we take the train back. The start and end points of the bike tour are very easy to reach by public transport, making them ideal for a day trip. If you want to take a little more time, you can split the tour in half and spend the night in Bad Langensalza. Whether you have an e-bike, trekking bike or gravel bike - the tour is suitable for almost any bike.
