Dr. Gabriele Krone-Schmalz, born in 1949, studied Eastern European history, political science and Slavic studies. From 1987 to 1991 she was a correspondent in the ARD studio in Moscow and then moderated the ARD Kulturweltspiegel until 1997. She was professor of TV and journalism at Iserlohn University until 2022 and a member of the steering committee of the Petersburg Dialogue until 2023. She is a Fellow of the German Marshall Fund. Gabriele Krone-Schmalz has received numerous prizes and awards, including the Grimme Prize twice and the Pushkin Medal.
