In her lecture on December 13, 2024 in Berlin, Gabriele Krone-Schmalz invited people to take a step back and question the current media portrayal of Russia. Dr. Gabriele Krone-Schmalz, born in 1949, studied Eastern European history, political science and Slavic studies. From 1987 to 1991 she was a correspondent in the ARD studio in Moscow and then moderated the ARD Kulturweltspiegel until 1997. She was professor of TV and journalism at Iserlohn University of Applied Sciences until 2022 and a member of the steering committee of the Petersburg Dialogue until 2023. She is a fellow of the German Marshall Fund. Gabriele Krone-Schmalz has received numerous prizes and awards: These include the Grimme Prize twice and the Pushkin Medal.
