UPDATE 9/28/2024 Unfortunately, Jörg passed away on 9/28/2024. I should actually be dead by now! A story about Jörg Marquard from Bayreuth, 54 years old. In March 2006, the ordeal began with an abdominal operation, countless hospital stays and a suspected diagnosis of mesothelioma caused by aspest. In Nov. 2008, another abdominal operation. Then in Nov. 2010, another abdominal operation, which finally brought certainty. In Dec. 2010, the diagnosis was made of highly differentiated epithelioid mesothelioma in the peritoneum, an incurable cancer! By Prof. Dr. K.-M. Müller from Münster. In February. In 2011, Prof. Dr. Croner, University Hospital Erlangen, performed a 13.5 hour operation... From then on, a new phase of my life began. It had taken a long time to come to terms with the subject of cancer. In December 2016, I was lucky enough to meet the filmmaker and musician Ritchie Newton in Thailand. He found out about my illness through long conversations. He said to me, Jörg, you have to go public with your life story to encourage other cancer patients not to give up and to use the remaining time sensibly, to fulfill unfulfilled wishes and dreams and to stand up to the devil cancer for as long as possible. PS: My elixir of life is riding a motorbike, sport, healthy eating and lots of positive thoughts!!!
