Mat has got his hands on one of the cheapest electric cars in the country and is about to find out how the car’s performance and range have changed since it was first launched. The car is a first-generation Nissan Leaf and Mat bought it from Carwow for just £1,500. When it was first launched it cost around £21,000, which even included a £5,000 government grant! Although it wasn’t the most expensive car on sale at the time, there’s no denying that Mat got a bargain! The new Nissan Leaf came with a 24kWh battery that gave it a claimed range of up to 200km. It also had a single electric motor that powered the front wheels only and was capable of producing 109bhp. The question is, with the claimed range already quite low, will Mat have any chance of getting to his destination? And what exactly happens when the car’s battery finally dies? You’ll have to stick with Mat and find out for yourself!
