Episode description: What is stress and how to effectively deal with it? Stress is a natural response of the body to challenges and pressure, but when it becomes chronic, it can negatively affect our health and well-being. In this episode, I explain what stress is and share proven methods to help you reduce it and deal with it better on a daily basis. Methods of dealing with stress: 1. Movement and physical activity: Daily movement, even 15-20 minutes of walking, helps reduce tension and lower cortisol levels. 2. Hydration: Remember to drink enough water - dehydration can increase the feeling of fatigue and stress. 3. Limit stimulants: Avoid coffee and other stimulants after 2 p.m. so as not to disturb your sleep rhythm. 4. Good sleep: Nighttime regeneration is essential. Create an evening routine and take care of good sleep hygiene. 5. Breathing exercises: • Box breathing: Breathe in a 4-4-4-4 pattern (4 seconds inhale, hold, 4 seconds exhale, hold). • 4-6-8: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 6 seconds and exhale for 8 seconds to calm the nervous system. 6. Body scan meditation: Focus on relaxing every part of your body – from the top of your head to your toes. 7. Writing and reflection: • Morning Pages: Writing in the morning without censorship helps clear your mind. • Journaling: Writing down your thoughts and emotions every day allows you to better understand yourself. • Gratitude Journal: Write down 3 things you are grateful for every day to build a positive attitude. STOP and sensory methods: • STOP method: Stop, Breathe, Analyze the situation, Respond consciously – helps break the spiral of negative thoughts. • Sensory method: Focus on your senses, e.g. notice 5 things you see, 4 things you feel, 3 things you hear, 2 things you smell, and 1 thing you taste – this is a quick way to anchor yourself in the “here and now.” With these methods, you can effectively reduce stress and regain inner peace.
