The manager and chairman of the supervisory board of Siemens Energy Joe Kaeser speaks with Sandra Maischberger about the German economic crisis, Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Kaeser is critical of Elon Musk's political influence in the USA. Musk has "extreme economic interests" and his personality knows no middle ground: He is "either a genius or one of the most perfidious people on this planet - there is nothing in between," explains Kaeser. Kaeser reports how Musk yelled at him on the phone one night because of problems with an automation solution. Kaeser also proposes an Agenda 2030 with five key areas: education and innovation, energy and infrastructure, economy, social affairs and pensions, and order and administration. He criticizes Robert Habeck for his economic policy performance, particularly the implementation of the green transformation he believes has failed, and the "market economy has fallen by the wayside". However, he appreciates the personal qualities of the Federal Minister of Economics: "He is empathetic. He has an honesty in politics that is rarely found there." Kaeser calls for targeted subsidies with clear returns instead of blanket support measures such as the industry flat rate for electricity: "It would be much more intelligent if we brought down the cost of electricity and did not subsidize the price." Kaeser believes that nuclear power is economically unprofitable, but also criticizes the shutdown of existing plants in an energy crisis as "stupid."
