The operation of the clamp meter is very simple! When it is going to perform the function of measuring current via pliers, it only uses its clamps. When an electrical cable is energized, an electric current flows through it and this flow generates a magnetic field. When an energized cable is between the clamps of the clamp meter, the magnetic field of the cable comes into contact with a coil in the clamps and induces an electric voltage.
