From everyday car to motorhome in just a few minutes - is that possible? Inventor Marcel Graf from Rothenburg has developed a foldable camping module that turns everyday vans into campers. Camping is booming in Germany: around 21 percent of the population aged 16 and over are campers - vacations with the classic caravan are particularly popular. (Source: ADAC eV, 2023) But: Motorhomes are expensive both to buy and to maintain. Marcel Graf knows that too. As a tradesman, he drives a spacious van - but it is too small for camping. "I wanted to invent something that I could use as a tradesman's car from Monday to Friday - and then as a motorhome light at the weekend." He is developing a camping box that expands the interior of many station wagons when needed - including a bed and window. When the holidays are over, the module should be able to be folded up so space-saving that it fits under any bed.
