The seed trees used in natural regeneration of pine should be robust and have dense crowns. However, nowadays, pine seed tree fellings are often carried out in forests with full stands and that are too young for seeding, which means that trees with a reduced crown and smaller trees have to be selected as seed trees, says Markku Nygren, a specialist researcher at the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). He is interviewed by Metsälehti editor Mikko Riikilä. Description: Sami Karppinen * * https://www.metsalehti.fi https://www.metsalehti.fi/tiedeliite / metsakustannus / metsalehti / metsalehti
