The population in Latvia is constantly decreasing, we are currently feeling the consequences of the rapid decline in the birth rate that Latvia experienced in the 1990s. The data do not promise a particular improvement of the situation in the future either. How the country will adapt to the situation and solve the challenges to the economy caused by the aging of the population will be discussed in Krustpunkt. Analyzed by Riga City Council deputy Viesturs Kleinbergs, Saeima Sustainable Development Commission deputy Māris Kučinskis, adviser to the Minister of Finance, representative of the Center for Demographic Affairs Karina Ploka, Bank of Latvia economist Andrejs Migunovs and sociologist Inta Mieriņa, tenured professor of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Latvia.
