Removing the steering wheel from the Honda Civic, City, Fit, Hr-v, Cr-v, Wr-v To remove the steering wheel from a Honda, follow these steps: 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable: This will ensure that there is no electrical power during the procedure. Be sure to follow safety precautions when handling the battery. 2. Position the steering wheel: Turn the steering wheel so that the wheels are aligned straight, which will make it easier to remove later. 3. Remove the two side screws of the steering wheel using a wrench (Torks 30), carefully remove the cover. 4. Disconnect the airbag cable: With the airbag cover removed, disconnect the airbag electrical cables. There are usually snap-in connectors that need to be pressed or slid to release the connection. Be sure to handle the cables with care. 5. Remove the retaining screws: With the airbag disconnected, you will find two or more retaining screws that secure the steering wheel to the steering column. Removing the steering wheel: With the screws removed, you may need to give the top of the steering wheel rim a gentle push to shock the steering wheel into place.
