The light in the woods comes before the subject, before the aperture, before time, because writing with light means photographing with your emotions. In this period I feel a strong attraction for the woods, perhaps because of the lush vegetation, for the woods that explode with colors, greens, flowers, but also for the light. Yes, the light in this period captures me, when it breaks through the treetops and hits the undergrowth illuminating the colors of the subjects and creating magical plays of light, contrasts, shadows. In these conditions it becomes fun, intriguing and very creative... I would never get tired of photographing. However, it is not easy to photograph in the woods in this period because the light is really low, the undergrowth is covered by the leaves of the previous season that form a soft cushion. The tripod becomes unstable, even with steel tips and the risk of micro-blur increases considerably. This is the worst enemy, it is a losing battle because a photo with micro-blur is practically unusable, unless you print it in a small format and with long post-production interventions. Another enemy is the noise that is generated by low light and long exposure times. An enemy, practically invincible, is the wind... it is a losing battle because we should use a very powerful flash and a fast shutter speed to block the subject but by getting closer to the subject we reduce the depth of field and therefore a small movement is enough and the subject is out of focus. However, it is an engaging, stimulating and creative experience that improves our photographic point of view and increases our sensitivity. I have taken many subjects, some macro photography, close ups and more open photos. I recommend it to all of you. Thanks for following me.
