The front door is the picture of the house! If there is one thing that should shine for years, it is the front door! In this video I explain from start to finish how to paint a front door! STEP 1: Cleaning the door and frame. Before sanding, you must clean the door with a degreaser/all-purpose cleaner. This will make the surface dirt and grease-free and you will see damage better. You will also not sand the dirt into the surface, which will give you less adhesion. STEP 2: Sanding and checking repair areas. Let the surface dry and sand the door with P220 or finer. (The higher the number, the finer) You do not want to see any scratches in the paint layer, so it is wise to sand finely. Open all seams with a scraper and pull open deep cracks and connections. STEP 3: Repairing damage. Now that all damage is open, you can repair it with 2-component repair products. Then let it harden well and sand with P120/P150. Sand this completely smooth with the surface so that no tension difference can arise which can lead to more defects. Dust the door with a painter's dustpan. STEP 4: Seal all seams. All open seams and connections that are on vertical and horizontal parts must be sealed. Sealant has an elastic capacity which allows it to absorb the movement of the wood, this prevents the paint from cracking and prevents defects. STEP 5: Prime or completely re-prime. You can prime the entire door again, just like you can paint a door. Or you can paint all connections, repairs, sealant seams, horizontal parts and bare wood with primer. This gives you a good base for the layer of paint that you are going to apply. STEP 6: Sanding between primer and layer of paint. When sanding the primer, your goal is to sand all dirt out of the primer. Do this with P220 or finer. Dust everything well with a painter's dustpan and polish it with a wet sponge to remove fine dust before painting. STEP 7: Painting the door with lacquer! Always paint the door early in the morning and on a dry, windless day. Before you start painting, cover the floor and tape the sign and/or mailbox. Always put the paint in a paint can to prevent dirt from getting into the can. Paint the door as I show in the video and carefully remove the tape. Leave the door open all day so that it can dry properly! ----------------------------- The products I used: Cleaning: Spontex Sponge: https://www.verfwebwinkel.nl/anza-spo...
