Welcome to Cooking with Jop! In this video I share an authentic and easy recipe for bapao. This dish is perfect as a snack. Make them yourself, because they are much tastier than those factory stuff from the supermarket! Follow the step-by-step instructions and enjoy a delicious meal full of flavor and with a pinch of salt! Ingredients: 400 grams of flour 100 grams of rice flour sachet of dry yeast 7 grams 1 tablespoon of sugar 1 teaspoon of salt 250-300 ml of lukewarm water oil 500 grams of minced beef 1 onion 2 cloves of garlic oil 1 teaspoon of ginger powder 1/4 teaspoon of ground coriander seeds 1/4 teaspoon of ground cumin seeds 5 tablespoons of ketjap ABC 1 teaspoon of salt sambal to taste cornflour Instructions: Step 1 Mix 400 grams of flour with 100 grams of rice flour and a sachet of dry yeast (7 grams) Step 2 Add 1 tablespoon of sugar, a teaspoon of salt and 250-300 ml of lukewarm water and knead everything well together, approx. 10 minutes, until you have a smooth dough Step 3 Cover the ball of dough with some oil, place it in a bowl and cover it with cling film. Let rise in a warm place for an hour and in the meantime make the filling Step 4 Chop 1 onion and 2 cloves of garlic and fry in some oil. Add 400 grams of minced beef and fry until brown. Add 1 teaspoon of ginger powder, ½ teaspoon of coriander and ¼ teaspoon of cumin and fry everything briefly. Add 5 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce (ABC) and a teaspoon of salt and possibly sambal to taste. Add half a cup of water and bind the filling with a paste of cornstarch until you get a firm but smooth mixture Step 5 Divide the dough into approx. 12 equal parts and make round balls Step 6 Flatten the balls a little and make the edge all around a little flatter Step 7 Put a generous scoop of filling in the middle of the dough and fold the edges all around the filling closed. Place the filled dough balls with the seam facing down on a piece of baking paper Step 8 Place as many bapaos as will fit in your steamer, leaving some space between them, and steam the buns for approx. 15 minutes Serve with chili sauce You can also freeze the buns well. Then wrap them in cling film. If desired, fill the bapao with chicken (minced meat), chicken satay, rendang or babi ketjap or with a vegetarian filling. Cooking is fun. Indonesian food is delicious. Other cuisines are also interesting. And the nice thing is: it doesn't have to be difficult to make it yourself, you just have to know how. And that's what I try to show in this video channel: how you, even as a Dutch person, can create those authentic flavors with the things you have in your kitchen and with ingredients that are easy to obtain in the Netherlands! It's not magic. I'll show you in clear, simple steps how you can achieve this yourself. And you will be amazed by the result!
