How to identify the PRIMARY and SECONDARY in a TRANSFORMER easily!! In this video tutorial of Easy electronic projects with MOTORS, experiments, homemade tools and much more!! we will see how we can easily identify which is the primary and which is the secondary of the transformers. Before starting with the video remember that we are going to work with the mains voltage in this case for Spain 220/230v and it is quite dangerous, it is recommended to be very careful with electricity, for the first technique that we are going to use is with the digital multimeter, we are going to put it on the electrical resistance scale and we will see what result the digital multimeter gives us, normally the highest reading will be the primary of the transformer and the lowest reading will be the secondary of the transformer, for the second way is with the homemade led continuity tester that I am going to leave a card at the end of the video, there we see that when we are measuring in the secondary of the transformer the intensity of the led diode is higher, that is, the led is seen at its maximum intensity, but on the contrary when we are measuring in the primary the most normal thing is that as we have a very high electrical resistance we practically see almost no intensity in the led diode this is something normal since the coil of a transformer acts as if it were an electrical resistance and the third way that I am going to teach is with the tool that we made in the channel to detect short circuits that I also leave you a card at the end of the video, there if If we put it in the primary, the 230v incandescent bulb will not light up, but on the contrary, if we put it in the secondary, it will light up at its maximum intensity, which indicates that we fear a short circuit there since most of the current will be consumed by the bulb and we cannot connect the power supply directly there since it can produce an explosion or directly jump the magnetothermal or differential of the house, after watching the video you can easily understand how a transformer works and how to test it.
