In this tutorial I show you how to cover a polystyrene base with fondant to create fake cakes using this great quick and easy method. Also how to get sharp edges. Lose the fear of covering a tall fake cake! Make that perfect display cake for your cake shop window. This video will give you the basic knowledge you need to cover your fake cakes with great skill. For this tutorial I used: 1 Polystyrene base 21cm high x 70cm circumference 1 1/2kg white fondant you can use a little less. Glucose to stick the fondant to the base Cornstarch to stop the fondant sticking to the surface while working. The utensils to use are: 1 Ruler and a measuring tape 1 Smoothing palette 1 cutting blade or knife 1 smooth roller 1 small brush or paintbrush I invite you to watch my other YOUTUBE videos where you will learn the necessary steps to work with pastry in an easy way.
