In the previous episode, we started the electrical reform in a completely new kitchen, starting by passing the wiring through the corrugated tube (32mm) and reviewing the circuits and types of cable corresponding to carry out the installation under regulations. In this sequel, we are going to continue the process with the junction boxes. WILL YOU JOIN ME? It is important that you remember that last week we talked about the circuits that will make up this new kitchen: a lighting circuit with a double switch (C1), another exclusive circuit for the refrigerator (C2), stove and oven (also subdivided), washing machine (C41), electric water heater (C43) and the kitchen sockets (C5). Now it is time to connect the cables to the corresponding plugs in the distribution box, but 5 of them go directly to their corresponding points without being interrupted by any splice plug. Only the lighting circuit (C1) and the kitchen sockets (C5) have been interrupted. The first, because another lighting line arrived at the distribution box that was going to feed another box to reach other light points. Regarding the sockets, they arrive at the distribution box and only distribute through the kitchen sockets, they do not continue distributing to other areas. CONNECTION METHOD I like to follow the following order to work with the distribution boxes: we start by removing the insulation from the different cables, making sure that the stripping is almost the same length as the splice plug; after that, we will make the braids. Depending on the number of cables and their respective diameter, we will use one or another splice plug. As a general rule, 10mm ones are used for lighting, 16mm ones for power circuits and 25mm for appliances that require a larger section due to their consumption. In this specific case, we take 5 outputs from the c5 line, which correspond to 2.5mm² cables, after braiding them, it gives us a diameter almost equal to or greater than the plugs that correspond to it (16mm) so we use a 25mm one. My recommendation in these cases is that you always use a larger diameter so that the cables will be loose, entering well into the plugs for later tightening. The time comes to connect the cables to a splice plug, to do this you must respect the following order: first the neutrals, the ground in the middle, and thirdly the phases, it is a preventive measure to avoid contacts between phases and neutrals that could cause short circuits. Finally, we make some good adjustments to the two tightening screws on the splice connector and make sure that there are no insulated or free wires, to avoid indirect contacts that cause short circuits or ground faults...
