The 3AS RACING team has looked into the issue for your motocross or enduro. Your clutch is an important element that should not be overlooked in order to make the most of your engine's power. Here are our tips for successfully completing the operation. First of all, here are some tips to see if your clutch is tired and if it deserves to be changed: If the play on your clutch lever becomes more and more important, your discs are therefore starting to no longer be effective. If the oil in your gearbox is black or has a strong odor after an oil change, this means that the clutch has overheated. -If when riding, you feel that the clutch is slipping (you put the gas on, the engine speed increases, but the bike does not move forward) then this is a sign that the clutch needs to be changed as soon as possible. Now you know how to recognize a worn clutch, let's move on to changing your clutch discs and springs, to do this, equip yourself with the following items: Engine oil, gearbox (see which oil is compatible with your bike if 4T or 2T). Oil filter. Smooth and lined clutch discs compatible with your bike. Clutch springs. The tools needed to disassemble and reassemble (T-wrench, sockets, etc.) Here are the important steps to remove your worn clutch discs: Drain your bike (see tutorial number 6 of 3AS RACING). Lean it on a tripod to make it easier to change your clutch. Make sure to close your fuel tap and that your engine is clean. Remove the clutch housing, pay attention to the seal (we advise you to remove the brake pedal to facilitate access to the housing and discs). Unscrew the pressure plate to remove it, pay attention to the clutch release bearing. Remove the smooth and lined discs from the bell, pay attention to the direction and number of discs for the rest of the operations. Before reassembling your new smooth and lined discs, we advise you to soak them in oil. In addition, to change your springs, with the help of your user manual, check the size of your springs, if the dimension is beyond the standard you will have to change them. Here are the steps to reassemble your new clutch: Start by inserting a lined disc then add the smooth disc, pay attention to the direction, the smooth disc has a rounded side and a more protruding side, so put the more protruding side upwards. Alternate between smooth disc and lined disc. Screw your pressure plate back on, respect a crosswise screwing order. Close your clutch with your housing and the gasket to fill your gearbox with new oil. Once done, you now know how to change your motocross or enduro clutch. All the smooth and filled discs with springs are available on our 3AS RACING website, if you have any doubts, our team of advisors is available to answer your questions.
