In 1806, Nathan Mayer Rothschild, son of Amschel, married Hannah Barent Cohen, daughter of Levy Barent Cohen, an Ashkenazi Jewish merchant among the wealthiest in London: the man who until a few days before had been a successful and brilliant trader, was finally able to access the widest commercial contacts with the English nobility and bourgeoisie. Nathan thus allowed the Rothschild family to expand. Once he understood the mechanism, his father Mayer Amschel Rothschild renamed his company to Rothschild and sons, involving the other four brothers who remained with him. In fact, laying the foundations for the international financial empire that was gradually being built. There are still 45 offspring of the Rothschild family alive between the English branch and the French branch. Each generation has somehow managed to move and maintain part of the empire. The bank still today deals with assisting large financial operations, especially in mergers and acquisitions at an international level. But it also manages assets and offers loans and investments in private companies. In the world of consultancy, Rothschild is the second largest company in the world in terms of number of deals managed after Goldman Sachs and the eighth in terms of turnover.
