From Cologne to the Ruhr area, the news is ringing from the rooftops: parrots - or more precisely, ring-necked parakeets - have become native to almost the entire Rhineland. The climate suits them and they find enough food. But where do the green-feathered screamers come from? Biologist Jana Romero visited the nesting sites of the ring-necked parakeet populations in Cologne with us and explained how the ring-necked parakeet's success story probably began. Sven Plöger also explains how the urbanization effect helped the ring-necked parakeet to settle down and we observe how the animals organize their ring-necked parakeet colony in the city.
