In Northeast Groningen, inexplicable million-dollar deals were concluded in the land trade and the allocation of wind turbine rights by the government. With these transactions and secret commitments, the port authority Groningen Seaports (GSP) acted outside its authority. One family business in particular, Bakker Bierum, earned millions thanks to these government deals. But there are also victims. In addition, the cronyism laid the foundation for legal disputes that are still ongoing. The deals were concluded over the past decade, since Google started preparations for a mega data center in the Eemshaven that opened at the end of 2016.
