15 years ago, Resident Evil 4 was released – a landmark game for the series and the entire industry. The fourth numbered part survived five years of development, four rejected prototypes and gave birth to Devil May Cry. Perhaps this is the secret of its success: the creators went through all the development options and settled on the best. The team changed more than once until Shinji Mikami, the director of the original Resident Evil, took the reins. The developers were faced with the task of reinventing the franchise, making it relevant for 2005. But what they got is still relevant in 2020.
