I decided to go on a trip to the Russian North to show you how people live in subarctic conditions. I did it in winter with average temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius. Normally, the associations with the Russian North are cold, forests, cosmodromes and very gloomy and Orthodox people. It is clear why there is little sunlight and little fruit. But at the same time, it is worth visiting this very remote and cold region to discover many things. In this video we will see how people live in the city of Arkhangelsk and why they have to walk to work every day on the river ice, what are the Russian churches in the North and we will meet a herd of reindeer in the polar tundra. We will talk to a man who left his job for the government in Moscow to help restore old churches, and also to a Russian sailor who sailed a ship on the White Sea all his life.
