In this video, I will finally perform the experiment that I have been asked about so often in the comments. This took me 6 hours of my personal time and today I am ready to share the results with you. We'll find out how much power our UPS (uninterruptible power supply) consumes when it's just plugged in and when it's off. Part One: On Mode For the first three hours, our UPS was connected to the grid and in standby mode. It wasn't powering any devices, but it was still consuming power. During this period, the device recorded a consumption of 0.088 kilowatt hours. Find out how many watts that is and what it means for your electricity. Part Two: Off Mode I then turned off the UPS by pressing the power button. In this mode, the device did not perform its main functions, but still consumed some power to support internal systems. During these three hours, 0.084 kilowatt-hours were consumed. Let's translate this value into watts and see how it affects consumption. Conclusions and tips Now you know how much energy your UPS consumes in different modes. This allows you to make informed decisions about how to use it. If you want to minimize electricity costs, turn off the UPS or unplug it when it is not in use for a long time. Personally, I prefer to unplug it regularly so it doesn't use any energy at all. I also recommend regularly checking your equipment to make sure it's working optimally and not consuming too much energy. In the video, you can repeatedly see the figures of minimum and maximum consumption. I thought I could use this data to calculate, but it turns out I can't tell exactly how long the UPS has been running at minimum or maximum values. Therefore, all calculations were made based on the total energy consumption in kilowatt-hours. If you liked this video, do not hesitate to give a thumbs up, subscribe to the channel and leave a kind word in the comments. Your feedback and support means a lot to me, especially after spending 6 hours on this experiment especially for you. Thanks for watching and see you soon!
