When an influential person like Darius Mockus pays off only on a moral issue, it is reasonable to doubt whether the justice system really works for the benefit of all. The court clearly established his knowledge and even encouragement of the actions for which others were punished. This is not a question of morality, but of legal responsibility. Is Mockus' dry exit story a sad reminder of how deep-rooted influence and corruption are? While some fall, others with money, media control or the right connections remain untouched. The question is, will our system at all ever be able to overcome this duality? Not only the concerns, but also their owners have to find themselves on the outskirts. The next part of my story is on Rūta Janutienė's OpTV show on YouTube, November 21.
