Welcome to the Academy! It's been a while since we've covered currencies and what means of payment exist in the world of Star Wars... Some nice viewers, namely Darkes the White Creeper and Cody212, took the trouble and, based on the information they've received so far, calculated roughly how many forints a Republic Credit is worth! It's true, the basis of the calculation itself is a questionable assumption... Do you remember that there was a video about the Trugut and Wupiupi currencies? Well, there was a little info in that video about how much money is worth... So I mentioned there that a Gorg was roughly the size of a whole chicken, and that its price was 7 Wupiupi, which was considered very cheap. Just like the cheaper whole chickens in Hungary... Well, of course, this is obviously a pretty unstable basis for calculation, because chicken is sold by the kilo, and this Gorg is sold by the piece... and there are a lot of other things that can come into play. But then why am I even discussing the topic? Well, because the result is realistic!!! At least it's acceptable to me. Right, 7 Wupiupi was 4.3 credits. So let's assume that the Gorg that cost 7 Wupiupi in Mos Espan was a smaller size, because it was considered cheap. Then let's buy a smaller size of chicken. You can get this for around 1000 FT, although it depends on your location and the store, but I wouldn't put much emphasis on that now. So... From all this, it turned out that one Credit costs around 228 HUF! Of course, the ground it stands on is really shaky, this whole thing, but at least there is some value that can be counted on. And why, I thought it was quite realistic? Well, because here are the prices of some machines and other things known from the Star Wars world in HUF! The Jogan fruit... C-3PO bought a container of this fruit, 4 pieces, for 32 credits. It is true that this is a rare fruit, but to have 7200 HUF with such a container, that is, about 1800 HUF each… It is true, when this deal was made, the bargaining went well… The Sinister Shadow Bank, Qui-Gon Jinn, offered 20,000 credits to Watto of Toydaria for the T14 Nubian hyperdrive generator… although Watto did not accept the Republic currency, I suspect that Master Jinn offered a realistic price, so this could be about 4 and a half million in Hungarian forints… Let's go a little further into the video topics that we have already talked about! The following amounts were calculated by the aforementioned fan, to whom I would like to thank him very much! So, a vulture droid: its price is 19,000 Credits, which is ~4.3 Million HUF in Hungarian forints. After all, it was just a droid, a serious combat drone. I can totally imagine that since the technology they were made with wasn't as new as the modern inventions of our world, their value wasn't skyrocketing either. So I think this 4.3 Million is pretty cheap for a simple military droid. But even if it's not realistic, I think it's acceptable. And that's the point. Have fun. I'm waiting for your opinions, observations and any other kind of communication in the comments :) Also, I'm happy to continue any conversation related to the world of Star Wars. Thank you for your attention! May the force be with you. #StarWarsAcademy #StarWars #Follow #Like #Currency #credit
