Many people describe the tormenting feeling of loneliness in a surprisingly consistent way. In addition to mental problems, loneliness can also cause physical problems and make you seriously ill. The causes of this unwanted loneliness are as varied as the people Donat Hofer meets on his journey - the loss of a loved one, frailty in old age, a lack of parental love or simply not feeling like you belong. The topic is associated with shame and those affected are usually reluctant to talk to others. There are, however, various ways of getting in touch. Be it through neighborhood help, at the chat box or on an afternoon of cuddling with strangers.
