VEDIC KNOWLEDGE This is a collection of three lectures given in May 2005 on the same topic based on the first chapter of the Bhagavatam. Thank you for your attention. Lectures on Srimad Bhagavatam "Srimad-Bhagavatam" by Leonid Tugutov (Lakshmi Narayana Das) OM namo bhagavate vasudevaya janmady asya yato 'nvayad itaratash charthesv abhijnah svarat tene Brahma hrda ya adi-kavaye muhyanti yat surayah tejo-vari-mridam yatha vinimayo yatra tri-sargo 'mrsha dhamna svena sada nirasta-kuhakam satyam param dhimahi O my Lord Sri Krishna, son of Vasudeva, O all-pervading Personality of Godhead, I offer my respectful obeisances unto You. I meditate upon Lord Sri Krishna because He is the Absolute Truth and the original cause of all causes for the creation, maintenance and destruction of the manifested universes. He is the direct and indirect cognizant of all manifestations, and He is independent because there is no cause other than Him. It was He who first infused the Vedic knowledge into the heart of Brahmaji, the first living entity. Even the great sages and demigods are bewildered by Him, just as one is bewildered by the delusive appearance of water in fire or land in water. It is only because of Him that the material universes, temporarily manifested by the interaction of the three modes of nature, appear to be real, although in fact they are unreal. Therefore I meditate upon Him, Lord Sri Krishna, who is eternally situated in the transcendental abode, which is always free from the illusory appearances of the material world.
