About :

The 1.8 E.torQ EVO/EVO VIS engine used in Fiat and Jeep models has a camshaft phase variator, which alters the engine's operating cycle by modulating the valve opening angle in relation to the crankshaft. The main objective is to purposefully control the power that the engine produces in intermediate throttle positions in order to allow the butterfly valve to operate open, generating pressure close to atmospheric in the intake manifold and, consequently, reducing the engine's aspiration effort.
