He first appeared at the Leningrad KGB headquarters at the age of 18. However, he hit a wall then, because the officer who received him on the spot announced that in order to get into the KGB, he had to either finish college or join the army. Putin chose the former. Interestingly, during his training at the spy school, his superiors noticed that he was less afraid of making risky decisions. Putin often made irrational choices. In this episode of the Postwar series, I also take up the topic of his stay in the GDR. He lived very well in East Germany. He even gained 9 kilograms. At that time, he recruited collaborators for the Soviet Union's services not only from the German Democratic Republic, but also from all over the world.
